Today’s soundtrack is Rotting Christ: Genesis, an album that I’ve owned for ages now. I don’t remember when I picked it up, but it’s pretty funny – it sounds like Wintersun but emo and edgy. “It isn’t a phase, Mom!” The riffs are pretty good, but the drums are subdued – they serve the songs, sure, but they’re not very interesting, and the mixing on them sounds too industrial – almost like they were produced in Rammstein’s studio.
So anyways, I’m back here blogging (for a while at least). Due to a downturn in business due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve been laid off for the foreseeable future. So I’m going to do my best to take advantage of this opportunity in a few ways.
I started by writing up a list of things I want to accomplish each day – intentionally spending time with my family, being productive in the household, and growing in my relationship with God. I converted that into a daily schedule, then I installed an app blocker on my phone that will limit my social media usage to a combined total of 30 minutes a day so that I won’t be tempted to waste my time tweeting or browsing Facebook. I’m going to be using my Randomizer again, but I’ve changed up its parameters. This time, I’m going to be given such directions as, “read one chapter of a nonfiction book,” or “watch a movie,” or “write some music,” or “play video games,” etc. So I’m taking a more relaxed tack this time around. I also recently bought the Family Worship Bible Guide to read with my family during dinner after our nightly Bible chapter; I’m going to take this opportunity while I get to eat all my meals at home with my wife and kids to include Bible readings and guided questions from the Bible Guide at each of our meals.
That’s all for today!
